Faculty of Interdisciplinary Studies, Khon Kaen University, Bolsters Research with GenAI to Drive Digital Innovation.
June 16, 2025 – The Faculty of Interdisciplinary Studies, Khon Kaen University, organized the "Promoting the Use of Generative AI for Research, Faculty of Interdisciplinary Studies" project for the fiscal year 2025. The main objective was to enhance the research capabilities of faculty members, staff, and graduate students, enabling them to effectively apply Generative AI tools at every stage of their research work.
The project took place in Room NK1407, Administration Building, Faculty of Interdisciplinary Studies. Associate Professor Dr. Wullapa Wongsinlatam, Vice Dean of the Faculty of Interdisciplinary Studies, presided over the opening ceremony. She stated that the project aims to promote and support everyone in effectively utilizing Generative AI tools for research development across all processes, from formulating research questions, writing proposals, designing research methodologies, and data analysis, to publishing and disseminating research findings. These are all crucial skills in this digital era.
The training session featured expert speaker Associate Professor Dr. Kanda Saikaew, Deputy Director for Digital Technology and Innovation, Khon Kaen University Library. She shared valuable knowledge, techniques, and experiences on using Generative AI as an assistant in research. The training covered a wide range of important topics, including:
- Effective Use of GenAI Tools: This included an introduction to KKU IntelSphere, along with the advantages of ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity, and Claude.
- Ethics and Caution in Using GenAI for Research: Emphasizing proper citation and responsible GenAI usage in academic work.
- Using GenAI for Topic Generation and Literature Review: This section provided techniques for effective prompt writing and using GenAI to analyze and summarize research articles.
- Using GenAI to Design and Create Questionnaires: Including how GenAI can assist in data analysis.
- Using GenAI for Publication and Summarization: Covering journal search for publication, various journal policies regarding GenAI use, and using GenAI to improve the language of written articles.
It is expected that participants of this project will be able to apply the acquired knowledge and skills to further develop their research, making it more advanced and of higher quality. This initiative aligns with the era of artificial intelligence, which plays a significant role in all aspects of operations. The project received considerable interest from participating faculty members, staff, and graduate students.
