Khon Kaen University Welcomes U.S. Scholar (KKU Inbound Visiting Scholar) for AI and Data Science Collaboration

Nong Khai, Thailand — The Faculty of Interdisciplinary Studies at Khon Kaen University (KKU) is proud to host Asst. Prof. Dr. Jakub Michel from One University Parkway, High Point, United States of America, under the international research initiative titled:

"Enhancing Research Excellence in Electrical and Computer Engineering through International Collaboration: Data Management and AI Integration."

The project, led by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Chayada Surawanitkun, aims to foster academic collaboration and capacity building in the areas of Data Science and Artificial Intelligence (AI). Dr. Michel will participate in a 60-day exchange program from June 1 to July 30, 2025, based at the Faculty of Interdisciplinary Studies, KKU.

During his stay, Dr. Michel will conduct teaching and research activities on AI-based data management in electrical energy systems as part of the graduate-level course IS489001: Research Methodologies in Electrical and Computer Engineering. The course, under the Graduate Program in Electrical and Computer Engineering, includes 15 hours of instruction with participation from three graduate students in the field of Technology and Engineering.

The program also includes professional development workshops aimed at enhancing the AI-related competencies of KKU’s faculty members and graduate students within the Faculty of Interdisciplinary Studies. These activities are expected to strengthen the faculty’s organizational capabilities and promote the ethical and effective application of AI technologies.

As a gesture of appreciation for his contribution, the Dean of the Faculty of Interdisciplinary Studies, Asst. Prof. Dr. Suntaree Buchitchon, presented a souvenir to Asst. Prof. Dr. Jakub Michel, symbolizing the warm welcome and gratitude of Khon Kaen University for his academic collaboration and commitment.
