Life and Financial Skills Enhancement Project for the Bachelor of Education Program in Teaching English as a Foreign Language, organized by the Department of Liberal Arts and Education.
On Friday, August 15, 2025, the Department of Liberal Arts and Education, Faculty of Interdisciplinary Studies, Khon Kaen University, organized the project " Life and Financial Skills Enhancement Project " at the Innovation Meeting Room, Integrated Learning Building 2. The project's goal was to equip students in the Bachelor of Education Program in Teaching English as a Foreign Language with the knowledge and skills for effective personal financial management.
This initiative was launched to directly address the growing financial distress among students. Many are grappling with issues like spending beyond their means, having no financial cushion for emergencies, and falling into debt before they even graduate—all of which stem from a critical gap in financial literacy and practical planning skills.
The opening and closing ceremonies were presided over by Assistant Professor Dr. Maleerat Kakandee. Throughout the day, the students received lectures from two expert speakers: Associate Professor Dr. Phongsarun Methakanjanasak and Mr. Lamun Kangjumpa, an academic expert in personal finance.
The program was structured as follows:
· Part 1: The event began with registration and the opening ceremony. This was followed by a lecture from Associate Professor Dr. Phongsarun Methakanjanasak on "Fundamental Knowledge of Personal Finance" and "Rational Financial Planning and Decision-Making," which provided students with essential foundational principles.
· Part 2: Mr. Lamun Kangjumpa, an academic expert, delivered a more practical lecture focused on "Cultivating Financial Discipline and an Appropriate Attitude towards Spending and Saving" and "Financial Preparation for Post-Graduation Life." This session covered crucial topics such as starting a career and investing, aiming to help students reduce financial problems and debt.
This project is part of the Department of Liberal Arts and Education's mission to produce graduates with strong ethics, knowledge, and professional conduct, ensuring they can lead quality and stable lives.
