TEFL Program Organizes Reflective Seminar on Teaching Practicum to Enhance Student-Teachers' Skills and Experience
September 26, 2025 – On Friday, September 26, B.E. 2568 (2025), the Teaching English as a Foreign Language (TEFL) Program, under the Faculty of Liberal Arts and Education, Interdisciplinary College, Khon Kaen University, successfully held a Reflective Seminar on School Teaching Practicum. The event took place at the INNOVATION PARK NKC meeting room and served as a vital platform for student-teachers to share their experiences and present key learnings from their intensive teaching placements.
The seminar aimed to allow students to review and crystallize the knowledge gained from their practical work in schools. The core topics discussed and exchanged were:
· Classroom Management: Effective management of the classroom environment and student behavior to facilitate learning.
· English Language Learning Management: Designing and implementing English teaching and learning activities that align with student needs and the curriculum.
· Adaptation/Collaboration with Cooperating Teachers and School Personnel: Building relationships and working collaboratively with school personnel to support teaching practice.
· Issues Encountered During the Practicum: Identifying and analyzing challenges faced during the teaching practice, such as student issues, cultural differences within the school, or difficulties with teaching media.
· Jointly Proposing Solutions for Practicum Issues: Brainstorming and suggesting practical ways to resolve and prevent problems in future practice.
This reflective seminar not only provided students with an opportunity to review and develop a profound understanding of the teacher's role but also enhanced their critical analysis and problem-solving skills, which are essential for the teaching profession. Furthermore, the feedback and suggestions gathered from the student-teachers are invaluable for the program in developing and improving the readiness preparation for future cohorts before they embark on their teaching practicum, thereby ensuring the continuous production of high-quality English language teacher graduates for society.
