ISKKU Meets with the Royal Thai Embassy in Seoul to Strengthen Thailand–Korea Academic, Research and Innovation Networks for the Greater Mekong

On 24 August 2026, a delegation from the Faculty of Interdisciplinary Studies, Khon Kaen University (ISKKU), led by Asst. Prof. Dr. Suntaree Buchitchon, Dean of the Faculty of Interdisciplinary Studies, visited the Royal Thai Embassy in Seoul, Republic of Korea, as part of the Faculty’s project to develop MOUs and strengthen international academic and research networks. The delegation was warmly welcomed by H.E. Mr. Tanee Sangrat, Ambassador of the Kingdom of Thailand to the Republic of Korea, together with Ms. Kanticha Laicharernkit, Head of the Economic Section/First Secretary, and Dr. Apapan Chatpaisarn, Head of the Agricultural Affairs Section. The main objective of the visit was to exchange perspectives on Thailand–Korea cooperation and explore opportunities to connect ISKKU with Korean universities, research institutes, government agencies and industry partners, with a view to developing concrete collaboration in education, research, technology and innovation. During the meeting, the delegation learned about the Embassy’s role in strengthening Thailand–Korea relations and exchanged views on education, research, innovation, agriculture and food, as well as opportunities to connect with relevant institutions and networks in the Republic of Korea. ISKKU also introduced the emerging Thailand–Korea Mekong Innovation Dialogue (TKMID), envisioned as a collaborative platform connecting Thai and Korean knowledge, technology and innovation with real challenges in the Greater Mekong Subregion through future talent development, collaborative research, academic exchanges, curriculum development and real-world innovation environments.
