ISKKU Signs MOU with GDI, KAIST to Advance Cooperation in AI, Technology, Research and Innovation, Witnessed by the Thai Ambassador
August 25, 2026 – At the Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology (KAIST) in Daejeon, Republic of Korea, the Faculty of Interdisciplinary Studies, Khon Kaen University (KKU), and the Graduate School of Global Digital Innovation (GDI), KAIST, held a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) signing ceremony to elevate cooperation in education, research, technology, innovation, and human resource development between the two institutions.
The MOU was officially signed by Assistant Professor Dr. Suntaree Buchitchon, Dean of the Faculty of Interdisciplinary Studies, KKU, and Prof. Seung Hun Han, Dean of the Graduate School of Global Digital Innovation, KAIST.
On this momentous occasion, H.E. Mr. Tanee Sangrat, Ambassador of Thailand to Seoul, honored the event by attending as a witness to the signing, accompanied by Ms. Apapan Chatpaisarn, Head of the Office of Agricultural Affairs, and representatives from the Royal Thai Embassy in Seoul.
Representatives from GDI, KAIST included Prof. Seung Hun Han, Dean; Ms. Dayae Kim, General Manager; Ms. Eunyoung Park, Academic Coordinator; and Ms. Juhee Nam, Global Collaboration Specialist.
The delegation from the Faculty of Interdisciplinary Studies, KKU, included Assoc. Prof. Dr. Wullapa Wongsinlatam, Associate Dean; Lecturer Mr. Chakkawan Glebbua, Associate Dean; Asst. Prof. Dr. Natthayanee Chantaplaboon, Associate Dean; Dr. Peachaya Jongudomkarn, Assistant Dean; Dr. Ussanee Tunsungnain, Assistant Dean; Asst. Prof. Dr. Nudtha Nithikulworawong, Head of the Applied Science Program; Asst. Prof. Dr. Jedsada Sodtiphinta, Lecturer in the Applied Science Program; Dr. Krongkaew Kingsawat, Director of the Demonstration School of Khon Kaen University, Nong Khai Campus; and Lecturer Mr. Naruebet Kaeokhamngam, Deputy Director of the Demonstration School of Khon Kaen University, Nong Khai Campus and Head of Academic Administration, Research and Learner Development, along with the International Relations staff.
The primary objective of this MOU is to establish a collaborative framework between the Faculty of Interdisciplinary Studies and GDI, KAIST. The partnership focuses on developing activities in education, research, the exchange of faculty members, researchers, students, and staff, as well as human resource development and joint innovation, with the ultimate goal of translating this cooperation into concrete projects and activities.
Prior to the signing ceremony, both parties introduced their respective institutions and exchanged views on future collaborative directions. The discussions emphasized AI, technology, and policy integration; the development of joint educational, research, and training programs; the exchange of faculty, researchers, and students; the organization of conferences, seminars, and academic activities; as well as bridging innovation with the industrial sector and applying knowledge for societal benefit.
This collaboration provides a valuable opportunity for both institutions to leverage their complementary strengths. KAIST brings profound expertise in advanced technology, research, and digital innovation, while the Faculty of Interdisciplinary Studies offers a unique interdisciplinary ecosystem that connects education, research, schools, communities, and real-world learning spaces in the Greater Mekong Subregion.
The signing of this MOU marks another significant milestone for the Faculty of Interdisciplinary Studies in expanding its international academic network. It serves as a strong starting point for fostering cooperation with GDI, KAIST, paving the way for educational, research, and innovative activities that will generate sustainable, long-term mutual benefits.
