ISKKU and Thai Ambassador Visit KIPHRD to Explore Future Talent Development and Innovation for the Power and Energy Sector

On 25 August 2026, a delegation from the Faculty of Interdisciplinary Studies, Khon Kaen University (ISKKU), led by Asst. Prof. Dr. Suntaree Buchitchon, Dean, visited the Korea Institute of Power HRD (KIPHRD) in Daejeon, Republic of Korea, to exchange knowledge on human resource development, professional training, technology and innovation in the power and energy sector. The visit was also joined by H.E. Mr. Tanee Sangrat, Ambassador of the Kingdom of Thailand to the Republic of Korea, together with Dr. Apapan Chatpaisarn, Head of the Agricultural Affairs Section, and representatives of the Royal Thai Embassy in Seoul. The delegation was welcomed by Jeon Jun Mo, President of KIPHRD, together with Lee Chang Oh, Senior Manager, and Hwang Sang Hwi, Assistant Manager, International Business, who shared KIPHRD’s approaches to human resource development, professional training and the alignment of workforce development with industry needs. The main objective of the visit was to learn from KIPHRD’s approaches to workforce development and training that respond to real industry needs, while exploring opportunities for future cooperation in education, professional training and collaborative research. During the visit, the delegation learned how human resource development, technology, industry requirements and innovation can be integrated to prepare personnel for rapid technological change and evolving workforce demands. The discussions also reflected ISKKU’s emphasis on Future Talent Development, which extends beyond students to academics, researchers, professionals and industry personnel who need to continuously develop new skills and adapt to emerging technologies. Potential areas for future collaboration included jointly designed training initiatives, the exchange of best practices, industry-connected learning and collaborative research related to human resource development, technology and the energy sector. The visit represents an important opportunity for ISKKU to expand its cooperation network in the Republic of Korea and apply international experience in industry-oriented human resource development to future education, research and workforce development initiatives.
