ISKKU Visits the University of Law, Hue University to Strengthen Cooperation in Legal Education, Research, AI, and Innovation in the Greater Mekong Subregion

On 28 August 2026, the Faculty of Interdisciplinary Studies, Khon Kaen University (ISKKU), led by Asst. Prof. Dr. Suntaree Buchitchon, Dean of the Faculty of Interdisciplinary Studies, together with administrators, faculty members, staff, and graduate students from the Master of Laws Program, paid an official study visit to the University of Law, Hue University, Vietnam. The visit aimed to strengthen relations and further advance academic, research, and educational cooperation between the two institutions. The ISKKU delegation comprised 23 participants.

The delegation was warmly welcomed by Dr. Nguyen Hong Son, Vice Rector of the University of Law, Hue University, together with representatives, lecturers, staff, and students of the host institution. The programme included welcome remarks by representatives of both institutions, followed by presentations introducing the Faculty of Interdisciplinary Studies, Khon Kaen University, and the University of Law, Hue University.

A key part of the visit was an academic exchange covering five major topics: advancing academic, research, and innovation partnerships in the Greater Mekong Subregion (GMS); developing a framework for AI and digital innovation through university–industry collaboration; the evolution of Vietnamese law amid 21st-century economic and technological changes, with particular focus on AI, intellectual property, and economic crime laws; an introduction to the Vietnamese legal system and restorative justice; and preparing legal education and the next generation of legal professionals for national transformation.

The two institutions also exchanged views on potential areas of future academic and research cooperation. These discussions reflected the objectives of the visit, including opportunities for collaborative research, curriculum development, faculty and student mobility, and other joint academic initiatives, as well as broader regional academic collaboration within the Greater Mekong Subregion.

The visit represented another important opportunity to strengthen the relationship between the Faculty of Interdisciplinary Studies, Khon Kaen University, and the University of Law, Hue University, while laying a foundation for continued cooperation in legal education, research, AI and innovation, as well as future student and staff exchanges between Thailand and Vietnam.
